Grímsey Island

Norlandair offers scheduled flights all year round to Grímsey, an idyllic island located 40 kilometers from the northern coast of Iceland.

Grímsey is an island with a population of roughly only 100 inhabitants and a huge array of wildlife and seabirds. The green and grassy island is home to over 1 million puffins, who burry into the cliffs, changing and sculpting the landscape around them. On rare occasions, polar bears have also been known to drift over to the island via ice flows from Greenland.

Grímsey is best known for its proximity to the Arctic Circle, which cuts through the island. In fact, the border between north and south is marked out by a monument giving visitors a chance to walk over the line of latitude.
