Tour 1 – Across the Arctic Circle

Only 40 km offshore the northern coast of Iceland we cross the Arctic circle on landing at Grímsey airport. At Grímsey there is no need to go to sleep
during the summer with the sun shining 24 hours a day. We will stop for one hour at the island and we strongly recommend a walk to enjoy the fantastic bird life on the island. From and to Akureyri we
will fly Island’s longest fjord, Eyjafjörður, a 60 km long fjord with a beautiful mountain scenery.
Tour 2 –Askja, Kverkfjöll, Mývatn and Goðafoss

Feel ones smallness among nature’s giants. On this tour you will see Iceland’s largest caldera and deepest lake, most
exstensive lava field and get view of the largest glacier in europe. The tour also leads us to Iceland’s hot spot entering the area of sleeping
volcano’s, geothermal areas with a spectacular contrast to the nearby glaciers.
Askja is a stratovolcano, the highest peak in the Dyngjufjöll volcanic massive. Askja is situated in the central highlands of Iceland, only footsteps away from Vatnajökull glacier and Kverkfjöll mountains (also a stratovolcano). As we leave the area of ice and fire we enter the magical world of Lake Mývatn and cover the whole Tour 3 in this leaflet.
Tour 3 – Lake Mývatn and Krafla

As we fly over Lake Mývatn you will be enchanted by landscape dominated by volcanic landforms. Lake Mývatn not only has exceptionally rich fauna of waterbirds but also exceptionally diverse and beautiful landscape. On our journey we will overfly grass covered pseudocraters, forests of rock pillars and the explosion crater (tephra ring) Hverfjall. On this tour we also cover Mt. Námafjall, a geothermal high temperature area, Krafla - a caldera that erupted last in 1984 and the magnificent waterfall Goðafoss.
